Antonio Gasbarrini
Antonio Gasbarrini (born on October 11, 1963, Bologna, Italy) is the head of the Medicine and Surgery Department of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome, Professor in Internal Medicine at the same university and Director of the Operative Units of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and of the Digestive Diseases Centre of the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Gemelli IRCCS of Rome.[1]

He is chairman of the Committee of clinic consultation, didactics and scientific and of the Committee of conflict of interest at the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Gemelli IRCCS di Roma[3].
He is also a Member of academic Senate at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart[4] and he is a Member of the Pastoral Council of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery with honours in 1988 at the University of Bologna and he specialised in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy. He has attended as Clinical and Research Fellow in Gastroenterology the Biochemical Lab Liver Transplantation Department at the University of Pittsburgh (USA) from 1990 to 1993.
He coordinates the integrated course of Medical Clinic and Medical Therapy of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the Catholic University and he manages the School of Specialisation in Internal Medicine.
He is editor o associate editor di many international scientific journals and he is member of many italian and international Scientific Companies. From 2006 to 2008 he has been Secretary of the Associazione Italiana Studio Fegato (AISF)[5] e dal 2008 al 2011 Presidente della Fondazione Italiana Ricerca in Epatologia (FIRE); dal 2010 al 2015 e’ stato coordinatore di Alleanza contro le Epatiti (ACE) e dal 2016 al 2021 e’ stato vicepresidente della Fondazione Italiana Malattie Digestive.
