Robert Philipp Wagensommer, born 1981 in Rome (Italy) and grown up on the Gargano promontory (Foggia, Italy) between San Giovanni Rotondo and San Marco in Lamis, is an Italian and German botanist.

Education and career

Robert Philipp Wagensommer holds a bachelor’s degree in “Natural Sciences” (2004) and a master of science degree in “Biodiversity and Nature Conservation” (2006), both at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Italy). Subsequently he obtained a PhD in “Biosystematics and Plant Ecology” (2010) at the University of Florence (Italy), and a PhD in “Geological, Biological and Environmental Sciences” (2017) at the University of Catania (Italy).

From November 2019 to September 2022 he was a tenure-track fixed-term researcher (RtdB) at the University of Bari “Aldo Moro” (Italy)[1]. Since October 2022 he is a tenured associate professor at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (Italy)[2].
